Fair Labor Standards Act

Fair Labor Standards Act. FLSA requires employers to pay minimum wages and overtime premiums; restricts child labor, and requires payroll record keeping. Regulations issued under the statute govern the definitions of wages; hours worked; and exemptions for ~ executive, administrative, professional, and outside sales, and other workers.

( Effective July 24,2007, the FLSA minimum wage was $5.85 per hour.
Effective July 24, 2008, the FLSA minimum wage will increase to $6.55 per hour.
Effective July 24, 2009, the FLSA minimum wage will increase to $7.25 per hour.)
